Event description:

The October meeting of the Yale Remote Sensing User Group (RSUG) will be held on Monday October 3, 2016 at 5:00pm in the ESC Classroom (Room 110).  Jane Foster, University of Minnesota & DOI Northeast Climate Science Center, will give a talk titled “Reconciling the surprising rebound in montane spruce-fir forests with dire predictions of their fate under climate change.”

This talk will cover her analysis published in the past year that used the Landsat archive and forest inventory data to quantify whether forest ecotones (boundaries) were shifting up or down in response to climate change in the Green and White Mountains. She will also talk about current work using GCM projections and landscape simulation models to predict montane forest change over the next 100 years.
