Event description:
Joe Calamia will discuss his recent work exploring methods to detect cirrus clouds in images using data from the Landsat 8 OLI sensor. He then compares these results to the new Cirrus band on the OLI sensor. This work may lead to cirrus cloud detection algorithms that can be applied to earlier Landsat imagery that do not feature a Cirrus band.
