Workshop I: Introduction to satellite-based remote sensing

Event description: 

This workshop is targeted to those with no background in remote sensing,  It will introduce the basic concepts of remote sensing including; the electromagnetic spectrum, characteristics of selected major sensor systems, components of a satellite image, and a description of spectral, spatial and temporal resolution.  The workshop will use the Google Earth Engine and cloud-based data.  Students will compare and contrast various types of data across time and space and will be introduced to basic image manipulation techniques.  This workshop is a prerequisite for the following two workshops.

This workshop will be offered next on September 26, 2018 from 4-6pm in the CSSSI KBT classroom.  Students may bring their own laptops or use the PCs in the classroom.  The workshop is limited to 30 students.  Use the University Library class registration web site to register for this workshop.
