Description:

Strong evaporation from the leaves of plants results in a significant cooling. This is of interest for at least two reasons. First, it can be used to estimate water use in desert irrigation. Second, it has a local effect on climate. The newly launched Landsat 7 system has an improved thermal band sensor which should stimulate high resolution studies of surface temperature.
