Ancient Maya Subsistence System: Archaeological Research at Aguateca, Guatemala

Investigator:

Start Date:

Description:

This project examines the ancient Maya subsistence system, environment and their relation to social change. Although recent archaeological investigations have been documenting dense settlements throughout the Maya area, its agricultural system is still poorly understood. This project uses satellite imagery in conjunction with ground survey to examine ecological zones and their agricultural potential in the area around the Maya center of Aguateca.
