Start Date:

Description:

This research project will attempt to determine the carbon cycling dynamics and isotopic signatures within the Hudson River estuary. The bulk of the project will involve collecting water from the Hudson and the wastewater treatment plants from West Point to the NYC harbor. Satellite imagery (LandSat and ASTER) will be used to characterize total suspended solid and chlorophyll a concentrations in the estuary. Transect data will be used as a ground truth. Spatial correlation between TSS / chl a plumes and wastewater treatment plant location will be investigated.
