Description:

This project studies the effects of land use change and agricultural intensification on human well-being and ecosystem health in northern Guinea and southern Senegal.  Part of the project requires using Landsat images to analyze long-term trends in land use for agriculture in the study zone. IKONOS images will also be used to study present land intensification for a small subset of the study zone. The remote sensing work will be compared with survey data collected on local perceptions of land use change and intensification.
