Description:

I am currently working on a project for Professor Rob Bailis to model land use and carbon dynamics in montane forests in Honduras. The project will also focus on fuelwood consumption and whether reducing fuelwood consumption, by installing more efficient cookstoves, will qualify for carbon credits.  I have already obtained USGS Satellite imagery and will use that to classify land cover and vegetation classification.  Other demographic layers will be imported and analyzed using ArcMap.

I will also require access to the CEO for my thesis project, which will examine carbon stocks in soil and standing biomass at a subregional scale in the Eastern Andes and Amazon basin.  This model will take topographic, pedological and geographic parameters into effect and will require extensive remote sensing work to classify forest types and floristic associations.
