Description:
The goal of this project is to use detrital thermochonology (U/Th)He to determine glacial erosion rates in the crest of the Patagonian Andes over the past ~10 Ma. To do this we will be sampling a series of well-dated moraines in the Lago Buenos Aires region of Argentina, to be dated upon our return. Satellite images and GIS is needed to compile data and prepare maps for our field work. In addition, topographic data can be used to determine glacial catchments to constrain the area that our measurements have sampled.
