My Master’s thesis project is on megacities and their local and global impact on radiative forcing. I will be using a climate model to make the radiative forcing calculations however, I would like to see if remote sensing can also be used to calculate some of the changes in atmosphere or to calculate the urban heat island. I would aim to do this for 11 megacities worldwide including – Moscow, Delhi, Beijing, Lagos, Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, Manila, Sao Paolo, Shanghai, Cairo. If I can calculate the urban heat island for all cities, I would then like to write an article in the fall about the results.
