Space Archaeology Lecture

Sarah Parcak will be giving a talk titled “The future of archaeology: Space-based approaches to ancient landscapes” on Wednesday 6 April at 5pm at the Whitney Humanities Center.  Sarah was introduced to satellite remote sensing when she took the course Observing the Earth From Space here at the YCEO in 2001 during her senior year at Yale College.  She now is an associate professor of anthropology at UAB and the director of the UAB Laboratory for Global Observation.

Sarah is the winner of the 2016 TED Prize.  She plans to use the $1 million prize to develop a crowd sourcing platform to allow citizen scientist to identify heritage sites using satellite imagery. You learn more about her talk at:
