Terra MODIS and ASTER data collection resumed

On 18 February 2016 the Terra satellite was placed in safe mode.  This means most systems were shut down and data collection was stopped.  We do not have any information on why this was done, but Terra was launched in December 1999 and has more than doubled its design life of five to seven years.  On 24 February the Terra MODIS sensor was returned to science mode and new MODIS data are being collected and evaluated.  ASTER data collection resumed a few days latter.
