Description:

Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes aegypti, a mosquito which thrives in urban environments. I am studying the mosquito’s distribution within and between several cities in Latin America, starting with cities in the Venezuelan Andes. I will be correlating larval density with characteristics of the urban environment, including (but not limited to) built indices, vegetation indices, urban heat island effects, and radiation fluxes.
