Description:

This project will be a supplement to my dissertation on ceramic assemblages and interaction of people from western Iran. Based on the preliminary project I did for the course Observing Earth From Space, Fall 2004, I would like to further examine the question of seasonal migration in western Iran.

Some questions I would like to look into are:

  • How do inter-annual and inter-regional variability of climatic factors affect migration?
  • What are the potential migration routes?
  • Can I identify possible campsites locations?

This research will help me better understand the geography of the region and further my understanding of the phenomenon of seasonal migration; which will enable me to better evaluate the possible role of seasonal migration concerning the archaeological record.
