Description:
I will use ARC-GIS to study spatial relationships between precipitation patterns, topography, erosion rate and bedrock geology. In addition, I will examine the river discharge predicted from precipitation patterns and topography in ARC-GIS to estimate spatial patterns of erosion rates in mountainous landscapes. I intend to study the European Alps initially. I am investigating the possibility of a feedback between precipitation, erosion, and rock uplift in the Lepontine region of the central Alps.
