My dissertation work will apply integrated economic and ecological modeling to spatial data from the Willamette River Basin in Oregon. The data I plan to use are currently in ArcGIS format, but the ArcGIS spatial analysis tools are inadequate for my purposes, so I need to use software (such as ERDAS Imagine) to convert my files to a format readable by a more flexible and powerful statistical program, such as R.
