Description:

I seek to replicate the techniques of the study “The Use of Satellite Data to Quantify Thermal Effluent Impacts,” (1) on the Long Island Sound. This study, conducted at Brown University and published in Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, uses Landsat imagery to create a 14-layer temperature map composite of Narragansett Bay. The layers of the composite temporally span the year, allowing for an examination of the seasonal temperature change vector associated with each pixel on the composite scene. The image was classified according to these change vectors.

I hope to replicate this study on the Long Island Sound by using Landsat imagery or MODIS data.
