The objective this project is to advance our understanding of the orographic precipitation and its associated gravity waves through a comparative study of different tropical regions across the globe. Understanding and predicting precipitation over the tropical mountain regions remain a challenging question in atmospheric sciences. The orographic precipitation is also associated with propagation to the downstream region; therefore, it has a large impact in the tropics. We propose a comparative high-resolution modeling study between West Africa, East Africa, India, Myanmar, and previous studies in Dominica.
