Description:

I plan to use Landsat Satellite Imagery to develop a habitat classification for a protected area on the border between Laos and Vietnam.  This particular area is important because it could harbor one of the world’s rarest large mammals, the Saola Pseudoryx nghetinhensis.  This habitat classification will be used as a variable in a model (along with climate and elevation) to produce a predicted distribution for the Saola.  If time permits, I am also interested in looking at a time series of habitat classifications in the area, to determine human encroachment on the Saola’s habitat.
